RYA powerboat courses at the Galloway Activity Centre take you from the basics of low speed skills and manouvers to high speed handling. The popular Level 2 course is a great introduction to powerboating and covers all the practical skills and theory to helm a powerboat inland or on the sea.

Over two days this course takes you from zero to hero and teaches you all the basics you need to be a safe powerboat driver. After the course you'll receive your internationally recognised photo ID certificate.
This course is essential for anyone providing safety cover for dinghies, windsurfers or paddled craft. Our powerboat instructors will give you hands on experience of a range of scenarios and rescues and you'll come away with the skills and confidence you need when rescuing other water users.
Want to teach powerboating? This is the course for you! Over three days, this course will guide you through the teaching process and qualify you to teach powerboating.
The RYA powerboat level 2 course can be taken by 12's and over and receive an endorsed certificate. The minimum age for Level 1 powerboating (a one day course) is 8 years old.
We have a Mk 2 Wheelyboat and can deliver powerboat training for perople with a range of different abilities, including wheelchair users and those with limited sight or hearing.
Not everyone wants to don a wetsuit and get out on a windsurfer in the depths of winter...howerver winter is one of the best times of year to learn powerboating! With generally stronger winds, it's the perfect opportunity to learn in challenging conditions.

How do I book?
If you'd like to book onto any of our powerboat courses then the easiest way is to give us a call on 01556502011.
If there is a minimum of two of you then we can run a bespoke course for you any time that suits. If you're an individual looking to join a course already running then please get in touch as we may have spaces on courses running throughout the year.

The powerboat Level 2 course can be taken by anyone over the age of 12 although candidates under 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate. We can run the Powerboat Level 1 course for anyone aged 8 and over.
No specialist equipment is needed, just sensible outdoor clothing and footwear you don't mind getting wet.
The powerboat course lasts 2 days and you will be learning under the supervision of one of our RYA Powerboat Instructors at a ratio of 1:3.
