gac covid-19 information

The Galloway Activity Centre is committed to the safety of guests and the wider community and this will be our number one priority throughout the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. With the rapidly changing nature of the crisis, we will be monitoring and reacting to any further government advice as the crisis unfolds. This page will be updated to reflect our current position but may be superseded by forthcoming government advice.

23rd March 2020

Firstly we hope you are healthy and are coping in the difficult times we are all living through. We are living in unprecedented times and we are all uncertain as to how the next few weeks and months will pan out.

We are following advice from the First Minister and have closed both Galloway Activity Centre and Loch Ken Eco Bothies with immediate effect. We have sent our staff home so they may socially isolate to help prevent spread of the virus. We are also closed for customers who have their own boats, our clubhouse/toilets etc are shut.

We are asking for your understanding and forbearance as we know many will be disappointed that you cannot carry out your holiday and group activity plans.

We are deferring bookings until after the end June at this time. However we will have to follow advice if this means we have to remain closed for longer. We are very much looking forward to seeing you later in the year.

We know some will be asking for a refund of their deposit. Deposits are non-refundable but can be used to rebook for a later date up until the end of 2021. This should give everyone ample time to select a new date.

We are making our bothies available for NHS and key worker staff to use FOC if they need to isolate away from their families. If you are a key worker in this situation, this will need to be arranged through your line manager who can liaise directly with us.

Please keep in touch and stay safe.

Richard, Heather and the team.
